1-Day Kayak Tour in the Stockholm Archipelago

Archipelago Exploration & Open-Fire Cooking

The classic archipelago experience — refined over years on the water

Escape the city - Enter the STOCKHOLM archipelago

If you do one outdoor experience in Stockholm, make it this.

Just 45 minutes from the city, the landscape opens into a maze of over 30,000 islands scattered across the Baltic Sea. Granite domes rise from calm water. Wind-shaped pines grip smooth rock shores. Red wooden cottages sit quietly between forest and sea.

This guided kayak tour in the Stockholm Archipelago offers a complete day on the water — experienced at sea level, at the right pace. From a kayak, you move naturally through the landscape. Close to the water. Close to the silence. Close to the wild.

For those looking to experience kayaking in Stockholm beyond the city skyline, this is where the archipelago opens up.

A Day in the Archipelago

We meet at 09:00 at our base south of Stockholm before driving together to Dalarö, a historic seaside village at the edge of the archipelago. From here, we launch into protected waters and begin our journey.

Throughout the day, we paddle between islands — navigating narrow passages, open bays and quiet granite shorelines. The pace is steady and relaxed, with time to paddle, rest and enjoy the surroundings.

At midday, we land on one of the islands and prepare our lunch over an open fire. Flames crackle against smooth rock while the Baltic Sea stretches beyond the shoreline. No restaurants. No crowds. Just real food, cooked outdoors, in the heart of the archipelago.

After time to rest and explore, we continue paddling through the surrounding islands before making our way back.

By mid to late afternoon, we return to Dalarö.
Around 17:00, we arrive back at our base south of Stockholm — salt on your skin, lungs filled with Baltic air, and a different perspective of Sweden.

  • A steady and relaxed day on calm waters, with time to paddle, rest and enjoy the islands.

We paddle in protected areas, with routes adapted to the group and wind conditions. Expect a mix of continuous paddling and natural breaks, one island landing with open-fire cooking, and time to unwind on smooth granite shores.

  • No previous kayaking experience is required. The tour is accessible for most active travelers and designed to provide a rewarding day on the water.

    • If we cancel due to unsafe weather conditions, you’ll be offered a different date, activity or a full refund.

    • A minimum number of participants is required for the tour to run. If it’s cancelled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.

    • We’re closely following the government regulations regarding fire bans. We won't cancel your tour because of a fire ban but you’ll be offered a cold lunch instead!

    • Please note that for safety reasons your guide might have to ask you to go in a more stable double kayak with someone.

    • Children between the ages of 3-12 must go in a double kayak with an adult!

    • A set of clothes (if you fall in the water:)

Wildlife & Coastal Life

White-tailed sea eagles are often seen circling above the islands, while great cormorants rest on offshore rocks. During migration seasons, geese and other seabirds cross the open sky. The archipelago is alive — subtle, but constant.

Kayaking in the Stockholm Archipelago – Safe, Sheltered & Guaranteed Departures

We just love kayaking in the Stockholm Archipelago. But being out on the Baltic Sea, conditions can make or break the day. That is why we have partnered up with Green Trails for our Kayaking in the Stockholm Archipelago tours. Thanks to our two unique kayak bases in different locations, we can almost always offer sheltered waters, no matter the wind direction—ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. And greatly reducing the risk of cancellations due to weather.

Our cooperation also means you benefit from guaranteed departures with no minimum group size, something many other operators can’t promise.

Limited to small groups — early booking is recommended during THE peak season
