2-Day Kayak Tour in the Stockholm Archipelago

Archipelago Expedition & Wild Camping

Two days on the water — crossing further, camping closer, and experiencing the archipelago beyond the day-trip routes

Leave the city behind — Paddle further

One day introduces you to the archipelago. Two days allow you to move through it.

Over two days, the landscape begins to shift as we travel through different parts of the middle Stockholm Archipelago. Sheltered bays give way to more open stretches. Narrow passages lead into broader horizons. Granite islands rise gently from the sea, sometimes covered in low pine forest, sometimes bare and wind-shaped.

One of the striking features of the archipelago is how shallow the water can remain, even far from the mainland. Clear Baltic water stretches over smooth granite seabeds, creating a surprising sense of openness without dramatic depth.

This guided kayak tour gives us the time to vary our route and explore areas that a single day simply cannot reach.

Two Days in the Archipelago

We meet at 09:00 at our base south of Stockholm before driving to Dalarö, where the mainland gives way to open water. From here, we load the kayaks and paddle into the middle archipelago.

The first day unfolds gradually. We cross open bays, navigate between islands and land on smooth granite shores. There is time to pause, to swim if conditions allow, and to absorb the scale of the Baltic landscape.

Lunch is prepared over an open fire on one of the islands — simple food, properly cooked, shared outdoors.

By late afternoon, we reach our island for the night. Kayaks are pulled above the tide line. Tents are set up close to the shoreline. Dinner is cooked over the fire as the light softens and the sea settles.

Evenings in the archipelago feel different. With fewer boats passing and no city nearby, the atmosphere becomes quieter and more expansive.

The following morning begins slowly — coffee by the water, breakfast outdoors — before we pack camp and continue paddling through new sections of the archipelago.

By mid to late afternoon on day two, we return to Dalarö and drive back to Stockholm.

Wildlife & Coastal Life

Sea eagles, cormorants and migrating seabirds are regularly seen across the islands. With more time on the water, the chances of encountering wildlife naturally increase.

Limited to small groups — early booking is recommended during THE peak season
